Bio
AudioUnit is the solo project of Australian producer Brian Clark, a fixture of the festival scene since the late ’90s.
A bass player at heart, Brian followed his love of psy-trance into the studio and shaped a sound entirely his own — funky, driving and unmistakably full-on psychedelic. Early on he teamed up with fellow artist and “wasabi brother” Chromatone to form Cromaunit; in 2013 the duo’s EP Challenge of the Grid (Zero One Music) tore up the psy scene with its heart-pounding dancefloor hits.
Solo releases followed year after year — starting with his debut EP Dirty Funkatronic (2014), then The Prophet (2015), the Cromaunit EP Chair Chucking (Zero One Music) and his Adventure Time EP for the legendary NANO Records — both 2016 — repeatedly landing in the Top 5 and Top 10 of Beatport’s Psy-Trance chart. More recently he’s released through Future Music Records, Iboga’s fast-rising sister label.
With music out on NANO Records, Zero One Music, Iboga, Future Music Records, Iono Music, Expo Records and 3rd Eye Japan, AudioUnit is an Australian icon with worldwide recognition for his meticulous production and singular funky full-on style. His debut album Groove Machine (2018) hit No. 1 on Beatport’s Psy-Trance chart and held the Top 10 for close to a month — nine tracks of unmistakably funky full-on.
From Rainbow Serpent, Maitreya and Psyfari to Dragon Dreaming, Mushroom Valley and South Africa’s Vortex Festival, AudioUnit’s music keeps psychedelic dancefloors moving worldwide. A true veteran of the scene — and an experience you won’t forget.
